Radio Controlled Boat Batteries
Will leaving the power on an RC boat drain the batteries?
its like a 30$ RC boat that takes 4 double A batteries. It makes no noise or anything when turned on, it is radio controlled.
If i keep the boat turned on but not actually use the controller to make it move at all ( propel, or turn the rudder) will it still go through the batteries if left on for a week?
Very likely to drain the batteries. The receiver will be left on and it is not designed to be a Low Current circuit. You may be lucky. Best answer is to measure the current. If under 1mA then it is unlikely to flatten them in a week.
Also the use of Rechargeable AA’s (up to 2 AH or more) will preclude leakage of contents if they do run flat, and also yield far higher power storage capacity. A 2AH setup would power 1 mA for 2000 hours nominally from fully charged.
