Radio Control Vehicle
The lights in my Radio/Climate control unit are out…?
Everything is still functional, except that none of the lights in the display work (radio or auto climate control).
The vehicle is a 1999 Mercury Sable. Is this type of problem normally caused by an issue with the wiring (or connectors) or does something typically fail in the Radio/Climate control unit?
I guess I am looking for advice on whether I should try to purchase a replacement radio/climate control unit before taking the vehicle in to have a mechanic troubleshoot it.
Any insight from people with experience in this type of vehicle would be greatly appreciated.
In this particular model, the lights are all electronic display, they are not standard bulbs, so there really are no bulbs to check.
Checking the fuses is a good idea and to be honest I have not done so yet, but as it is a 1 piece unit, if the fuse was out, wouldn’t the radio and automatic climate control cease to function as well?
my guess is that there is a fuse that has blown somewhere or a wire isnt connected. if the radio still works, and the climate control is still functional, its just with the lights and that is a simple fix. you will have to remove the radio/CC facia to get behind it and look, you could have a wire that was rubbing and just needs to be taped up, but could also be a blown bulb (think christmas lights).
check fuses, grounds, bulbs, power wires and go from there, its fairly easy to trouble shoot so GL
