If you’ve got a broker already, ask them what charts they use ; perhaps they’ve got one online you can learn from. If not, charts.com is free. Play with the charts till you are experienced in reading one, and are very sure about what it is letting you know.
Don’t get wrapped up in what you believe you are learning from studying charts or from reading the papers. This is merely a familiarization period. You are learning to collect vital stock info, not making an attempt to make judgments. You have much more to do before you are prepared to invest.
Remember, what you read in your local paper which has to do with stocks is perhaps old stories so far as stock stories go. Everything that occurs in the stockmarket occurs so fast by the time it gets to your paper it’s long past news. That’s the reason why you want to learn how to investigate stocks and dig out info about the companys instead of depending on impulses and gossip.
If a stock symbol has 4 or even more letters, the stock is traded on the Nasdac or the over the counter exchange ; if the symbol is less than 4, it is traded on theNew York Stock Exchange or the American Stock Exchange.
