Radio Control Gas Engines

Radio Controlled Gas powered Cars ??
When I pull the rip cord or string, the fly wheel spins, and the engine does not start. What should I do? How do I fix it? Whats wrong? ((its a small radio controlled car, not a real car))
Depends on the age of it. The engine may just be worn out.
Let’s look at the glow plug first; it could be bad. Spray carb cleaner around the heat sink to clean out all the crud then remove the glow plug.
Is it wet with fuel? If so, it’s flooded. You’ll have to let it dry out. Attach the glow plug to the glow plug starter to it to see if it glows. Is it the proper glow plug? There’s several sizes, if it’s started before, chances are it’s the correct on. You probably need the long one versus the shorter glow plug.
Is the glow plug wire firmly attached to the top of the glow plug? That’s usually a common problem.
The air filter. Take it out, wash it, let it dry and then oil it. They make a special sticky type oil that you can use just for the air filter. Air filters are very important in these little things to keep out dirt and grit and prolong the life of the engine.
When you say gas powered, I think I know you mean nitro. Gas would probably explode. You do not want to use gasoline!
Is the fuel good? This type of fuel draws water, so always put the cap back on the bottle as soon as you’ve filled the tank. Put a drop or two of fuel it into the carb throat, if it tries to kick off, you have a fuel feed problem either in the carb or the hoses.
These work by creating pressure from the exhaust to push fuel from the tank into the carb. The lid to the fuel tank has to be clean of debrie and seal tightly.
If you have old fuel, buy a quart of new fuel and try that. Get the manual out and adjust the main needle valve. It’s better to run it rich than too lean. Lean you get more power but no no benefit of the oil in the fuel as it’s running too and before you know it, the piston will sieze.
If it’s run well in the past don’t mess with the needle. If it’s a cold day, open up the needle valve a 1/4 to 1/2 turn to make it run richer, at least until it warms up.
On the remote, make sure that it has the throttle open enough to start at an idle. There should be a small dial to control this.
If you ran it too lean, got it too hot, you may have damaged the engine. If these these don’t help you, you should take it to your hobby shop and have them look at it.
