Radio Control Boat Kits
Adding radio controls my home made boat?
Okay… I have a boat and already a motor, but are there any noob kits on the market or guides out and about to explain it all? Is it as simple as connecting a receiver to my motor, and off I go with the controlling? Please shed some light on the whole idea….
You will need to buy Radio Control outfit on 40mhz band. (Only model aircraft allowed on 35mhz band). If not in UK these bands may differ. You will get transmitter, receiver, often rechargeable batteries/charger and typically 2 servo motors. These plug into the receiver and operate a control – in your case the rudder. To control the electric motor you can use the second servo to throw a switch but its much better to use an electronic speed controller which will give variable speed control and if you buy one for a boat/car will have reverse function too. Why not buy Model Boats mag from newsagent or look at their website ?
