Load cells, Pressure and Force Sensors

In modern market strain gauge based load cells are widely used. The working depends upon Whetstones’ bridge circuit. This circuit when invented didn’t use strain gauge. When under load, force or pressure the resistance in strain gauges change and also the flow of current. So we can conclude that load or force applied is converted into change in resistance and thus it is called as transducer. The change in resistance is directly proportional to the applied force or load or pressure. To make the physical force load cells or load human readable we need electronic circuit system which is calibrated to show equivalent current change to load proportion. The electronic circuit should be calibrated properly to show actual force or weight applied.

Tekscan is a leading manufacturer of force sensors and complete tactile force and pressure measurement systems. Accurate, simple to use and extremely cost-effective, their sensors have been integrated into a variety of successful OEM products. Measuring both static and dynamic pressure events, their systems provide concrete data for making crucial assessments in industrial, medical and dental applications.

This products range from simple force sensors and force sensing systems to highly complex pressure measurement systems with over 1 lacks sensing points. As mentioned above, the basic principle of sensors is that the current flowing through the piezoelectric materials is proportional to the amount of pressure. For regular use pressure transducers, this electric current travels through electric wires.

When this integration module is used to study Anterior Guidance function during mandibular excursions, different muscular contraction patterns result from a Posterior Group Function, when compared to a sound Anterior Guidance Function where Posterior Disclusion occurs in less than.5 seconds. It is observed that higher contractile muscle activity is measured when posterior teeth occlude in excursive function in contrast to lower levels observed when a measurable immediate posterior disclusion is present.

Tekscan’s sensors and systems provide critical force and pressure data in various environments including research and development, quality assurance, and testing as well as human and animal health care & research settings worldwide.

However, a more convenient arrangement is the use of wireless pressure sensors. These are equipped with the capability to create radio signals that transmit the information to the control panel or computer. Some of the specific applications of wireless pressure sensors in industries include leak testing, measurement of the flow of liquids or gases, and checking on the gas and liquid pressure in certain machinery to ensure proper operation and safety Tekscan can make custom FSR sensors in virtually any shape and we offer a wide range of sizes and force ranges.

Custom sensors are manufactured and tested to ensure they meet the agreed-upon specifications, including accuracy and repeatability.
