Can anyone help me with these physics questions?
1. In a mining operation, a hydraulic jack can exert a maximum force of magnitude 1.8 X 10^3N on the small piston. The surface area of the small piston is 0.08 m^2, and the surface area of the large piston is 1.6m^2. Calculate
a) The magnitude of the maximum force that can be used to lift a load
b) The mass of that load
2. Describe the advantages of todays car breaking system compared the braking system used on the Model T Ford.
3. Name four liquids of different viscosity, and arrange them in a list from lowest to highest viscosity.
4. Describe two sports where athletes try to reduce their drag coefficient to a minimum. How do they accomplish this?
5. A spoiler on the rear of a car has a cross-sectional shape that resembles an upside down airplane wing. Explain the function of the spoiler.
1.) Pressure = Force / Area
F1 / A1 = F2 / A2 (Pressure is the same)
F1 = 1.8 X 10^3, A1 = 0.08 , A2 = 1.6
F2 = F1 X A2 / A1
= 1.8 X 10^3 X 1.6 / 0.08
= 36000 N
Mass
F = ma
a = 10 for gravity
m = 36000 / 10
= 3600 kg
