Assume that you are going to open a new hobby store that specializes in model trains and radio controlled model airplanes. Would you use a periodic or perpetual inventory system in your new business? Why?
The use of inventory system will definitely depend on the size of the organization, the number and costs of items involved. It would appear that the hobby store is a small organization and, as such, it is advisable to use periodic method. Perpetual inventory method records the movement in the inventory at each purchase and sale and is a better method of controlling inventory as compared to periodic system.
