Where to put wings on a model glider?
I am planning to make a model glider out of wood (I haven’t decided what wood yet – suggestions? Not balsa, I want something stronger, but still light.) but I don’t know how to balance it. Where should I position the wings on the glider? Is there a ratio for that? Is there a ratio for the wingspan to the length of the airplane? (My glider will be about 35-40cm or 14-16″)
Just to make it simpler: Where do I put the wings on the glider so that the nose/tail aren’t too heavy, and it will fly climbing up just a touch?
one approach is to put the wings so that the balance point is in the center of the wings. If yo want it to climb, you can move the wings forward a tad. Or, better, adjust the horizontal stabilizers.
