There are many different electric remote control planes to choose from out there, making it a little confusing on which model to get. You have your traditional products, bi-planes, and small aircraft, to large jets, and many in between. RC airplanes come in gas powered models as well, but for the beginner, an electric model makes a better choice. The reason for this is that electric is more reliable, has fewer motor parts, and you don’t have to worry about dealing with combustible gases. While electric isn’t as fast as gas, for those just starting out in this hobby, being the fastest isn’t always the best idea.
Many people ask what they should look for in electric remote control planes? There are not easy answers, because each person’s taste is different. However there are some guidelines to help people find the best RC airplanes for them. One of course is your skill level. Those starting out want to buy planes that have simple radio controls, the more simple the better. It is difficult enough to learn how to fly without being confused by all the different things to have to deal with. Up and down, and directional controls and throttle are really all you need to get started.
When you are looking for Electric remote control planes, most beginners don’t want to have to also put their plane together. There are many different RC airplanes that are ready to run right out of the box. This means that you just open the package, charge up the battery pack, and take it out to fly. This way you are up and running and enjoying your hobby right away. Deal with the models that come in kits and that have to be assembled later when you have some experience under your belt.
Durability is also a major factor for beginners when it comes to Electric remote control planes. You want to find RC airplanes that are made from durable materials, and that can be easily repaired and replaced. New people are going to have to get used to flying first, and because of this are going to experience many crashes along the way. You want a plane that is going to be able to hold up to this and come back strong.
One of the most important things about buying electric remote control planes is price. Here you have to be a little careful about picking the right RC airplanes. You don’t want to buy a plane that is too cheap, because these are considered ‘toys,’ not real models. They won’t last as long. One the other hand, if you are new to this hobby, then you don’t want to buy a plane that is really expensive either. You want to be able to fly them, practice your skills, and get good at flying, rather that worrying about damaging your plane.
One other thing about electric remote control planes is that these planes use NiCad or Lithium Ion battery packs. It may be a good idea to buy an extra pack in order to prolong your flight time, and even a car adapter so you can be recharging one pack while using the other. If there is a choice on batteries, pick the Lithium ones, they have a longer lifespan, charge faster, and hold a charge longer than other battery packs.
