SCALE DRAWINGS GR,8. I need help. please?
Please help + scheck if my answers are right.
1. A model airplane was made using a scale of 1:150.
The model is 48 cm long.
What is the actual length of the plane?
My answer: 7200cm
2) A bluerint for a cottage has a scaleof 1:40cm
One room measues 3.4 m by 4.8 m.
Calculate te dimensions of room on the blueprint.
3) A) The scale on the map of ontario is 1:3000000
The map Distance between London and Timmins is 28 cm
What is the actual disstance?
4) A bug is 6mm long
Ascale drawing of the bug is 7.8 cm
What is the scale drawing?
5) A rectanglular garden measures 24m by 18m
choose a suitable scale
1) you are correct because you take the scale
measurement (48) multiply it by the scale (150) =7,200cm
or you should simplify with 72 meters
2)Do the same as above. scale measurement a: (3.4m) and b: (4.8), but this time divide each by the scale (40) which is
a(0.085m) and b: (0.12m) simplify to 8.5cm by 12cm or 85mm by 120mm
3)once again take map’s distance (28cm) and multiply by the scale (300000) which is 84,000,000 or 840km
4) OK get the mm of the scale drawing (7.8cm becomes 78mm) then divide by the actual size (6) which is 13
The scale is 13:1 (the larger number first because the actual size is smaller)
5) these have a common denominator of 600 so 1:600 scale would give you a drawing with a 4cm by 3cm rectangle, which is fine.
