Is balsa wood (used for model airplane’s) a hard or sofa?

It has nothing to do with the relative hardness/softness of the wood. Hardwoods are broadleaved. Softwoods are coniferous and are usually needle-leaved. Although balsa has soft wood, it is actually classified as a hardwood.
