Any ideas for making an wind tunnel ?

I am planning of doing an experiment on physics, and it is related to aerodynamics. What i will need is a model airplane wing, a force meters and a wind tunnel. Problem is in our school lab we dont have a wind tunnel, any ideas please reply.

If this is for a high school physics experiment, you probably want something cheap and easy to make. Here is something you can do with things around the house. Get some old cardboard boxes and use them to create a tunnel. Use a fan as the source of the wind. Put it downstream of the airfoil, blowing out of the tunnel, so that it is sucking air into the entrance of the tunnel. Most house fans have 3 speeds, so you can do experiments with a few different wind speeds. If you want the flow to be uniform, put a bunch of long and skinny tubes (high L/D ratio is the technical term) into the entrance of the tunnel. As the air goes through them, all of the air flow will end up going the same direction. Plastic straws would be best, but you would need hundreds of them. Something like old paper towel tubes would work well. Toilet paper tubes are probably not long enough to get the job done.

This method will get you a very cheap but working wind tunnel. I’ll leave it up to you to find the best way to put the airfoil in there and take force measurements. Good luck.
