Slow down my R/C Truck?

I hace a Traxass Stampede electric radio control truck. It goes way to fast for my kids to control. I sput a slower turn motor in and reduced the gears but it still is to fast. Is there a way to put a resistor in after the battery to decrease the speed so my kids can drive it?

I would buy a smaller battery and a set of connectors, that should be enough to reduce the speed. It might take a little rigging to fit the new battery. Good luck!
