What is the best glue for balsa or basswood?

such as a model airplane kit where there are lots of wood pieces to join. i’m looking for a good balance of fast setting time and strength.

That depends on where you are gluing the parts.
CA glues are pretty good, also 5min and 30min epoxy, also other wood working glues if you use the ‘professional’ grades. (I prefer these to CA under most conditions.)

I use all of the above.
