Climate Control problem 1995 1500 Chevy?
I have a 1995 1500 Chevy pickup, automatic tran, 4×4 ex-cab, with 119,000 miles. A while back I started noticing problems with the climate control, heat when I had a/c on, defrost when I had it set for front vents and for the most part zero control over any settings. Then a few weeks ago while I was driving it started smoking) it smelled like an electric burn) from my cassette deck (in my truck the radio and climate control panel are separate). since then the only air flow I have is from the floor blower I can’t control how much or temp of the air the only thing I can control is if is a/c air or not. Rec. air button doesn’t light up and when I run the a/c it condensate drips inside the cab on the passenger side. I am not leaking coolant. And I can’t figure out what is going on
Sounds like the control head is shot and needs to be replaced. You might have some luck finding one from a salvage yard as I’d expect it is rather expensive if purchased from the dealer.
The leak into the passenger compartment is because the condensate drain is stopped up. It can be found sticking out from the evaporator housing at the firewall. Clean it out and that problem will be fixed.
